The key is held by a man named Adeeb Joudeh Alhusseini. He is Muslim. His family has held those keys for over eight hundred years. The same Muslim family since 1517. Muslims has helped to maintain peace between the many different Christian denominations and be a neutral guardian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, since the church is always in tension & split among the many different Christian sects Khalifah Umar (Omar) made an agreement with Sophronius granting Christians freedom and protection so they could worship freely in churches. The two leaders signed a pact popularly called the Pact of Umar, a treaty detailing the rights and privileges of Christians in Jerusalem. Basilica dating to the 4th century that is marked by some Christians as the site of Jesus's tomb. It is where they believe Isa (عليه السلام) [Jesus] was crucified.
